Differences between SCENE WebShare Cloud and SCENE WebShare 2Go
Note: SCENE WebShare 2Go is a discontinued product. FARO will not further develop this product and future versions of SCENE will no longer support it.
From version 7.1 of SCENE you can use the successor SCENE 2go instead.
Preparing the SCENE project
SCENE alone is not sufficient to create data for WebShare 2Go 2.0. An additional app is required, which may be downloaded from http://www.faro.com/faro-3d-app-center
As for SCENE WebShare Cloud, you use the WebShare Cloud Export dialog to prepare your scan project for WebShare.
Instead of using the WebShare Cloud Upload, use the app to transfer the prepared scan project to an USB flash drive or any folder on your computer.
Environment
Unlike SCENE WebShare Cloud, you don't need a active Internet connection. (But note that without an Internet connection, the world map in the project selector won't be displayed correctly.)
Unlike SCENE WebShare Cloud, Microsoft Internet Explorer is not supported.
Annotations
Like SCENE WebShare Cloud, WebShare 2Go 2.0 will display annotations exported from the SCENE project.
Unlike SCENE WebShare Cloud, you cannot create annotations in the browser. Instead, create them in SCENE before the export.
Hyperlinks to local files can be added in SCENE. If you copy these files to the folder web\ws2go-data\documents on the WebShare 2Go 2.0 USB flash drive, you will be able to open them by click in the annotation's property page.
Read the Quick Start guide of the app for more details.
Measurements
Like SCENE WebShare Cloud, WebShare 2Go 2.0 will display measurements exported from the SCENE project.
Like SCENE WebShare Cloud, you can create temporary measurements in WebShare 2Go 2.0.
In WebShare 2Go 2.0, you can additionally use the 3D View to select the points of the measurement. Note that these measurements will then only be shown in the 3D view.
Unlike SCENE WebShare Cloud, you cannot create persistent measurements in the browser. Instead, create them in SCENE before the export.
3D View
The 3D View is available by default for all projects. Unlike SCENE WebShare Cloud, no special processing is necessary to enable the 3D View.
Unlike SCENE WebShare Cloud, you can only view a single scan in 3D in WebShare 2Go 2.0.
Compared to SCENE WebShare Cloud, the 3D View of WebShare 2Go 2.0 has a longer upfront loading time—up to several seconds. This loading time is mostly influenced by the chosen 3D View Detail level, and your computer's CPU performance.
If you click the Scan View category of an opened project without previously opening a scan, a panorama of the project's central scan is shown.
Settings
All settings are saved in the browser's internal storage. If you don't use the Chromium browser on the USB flash drive (e.g., on a MacOS system), your settings will be stored locally on your computer, and won't be applied when using the USB flash drive on another computer.
For the Scan View setting 3D View Detail Level, only Medium, High and Very High (HD) are available. Increasing the detail level will increase the loading time of each 3D View.
While you move the camera, the number of rendered scan points is reduced to achieve a higher frame rate.
